Contagion - Book Review

"Three incidents occurred that were totally unrelated yet were to cause a tragic intersection of the lives of three of the people involved."

These lines from the prologue sets the tempo of the book. A medical thriller, Robin Cooks's 'Contagion' is another of those novels which exposes you to a new set of medical etymology and biological scenarios. Written in the background of medical careers, its pressures, thrills and finally the exposes, Robin Cook maintains the excitement till the last few pages.

Though the last forty pages are predictable, the twist in the story does come as a surprise and hits you out of the blue. However, though, some may feel the blow they may opinion that the blow was rather placid.

Cook gives a lively description of the medical setup and it is for sure to excite readers who are not from medical background. The book is light on the medical jargon used and is spot on in not frightening the reader.

I also felt that the book is to be read at a stretch, else you risk losing the characters as they are not etched very deeply

Overall, the book is a good one time at -a - stretch read.
